The Saturday saw Pinkney qualify 14th on the grid in a time of 1min 1sec at an average speed of 96mph.<br/><br/>As the lights went green for round 19 Pinkney got off to a good start chasing the pack in front and started to make progress through the field.<br/><br/>As he made an overtaking manoeuvre at Becketts on lap eight to put him up to 10th place, his advance came to a halt as his engine switched itself into 'limp home' mode, making Pinkney do just that at slow speed, and forced him into retirement.<br/><br/>His problems were to continue as he lined up 21st on the grid for the next round. <br/><br/>Again he got off to a good start and started to make progress up through the pack when the problem reccurred, forcing him yet again into retirement on lap six<br/><br/>The team worked hard to get the Vectra ready for round 21, and Pinkney got off to another good start from 20th on the grid. <br/><br/>By the end of lap one, he had progressed through the field up to 13th but at the beginning of lap two the safety car was deployed to clean up a start line incident. <br/><br/>It took until lap seven for racing to recommence with Pinkney weaving from side to side to keep heat in the tyres for the restart. <br/><br/>By lap 13 he was up to 12th, but still kept pushing to make up more ground. <br/><br/>At the end of the 25-lap race, extended by three laps due to the earlier safety car period, Pinkney had made up a couple more places putting him in 11th, crossing the line in a time of 29min 9secs at an average speed of 84mph.<br/><br/>Pinkney remains 15th in the championship standings on 11 points. <br/>
