NSW: Corruption probe could examine more than 25 MPs

SYDNEY, Dec 8 AAP - More than 25 New South Wales MPs face investigation by the states
corruption watchdog over abuse of parliamentary entitlements.

Independent Commission Against Corruption chief Barry OKeefe today released a report
detailing extensive rorting by MPs and recommending tighter controls over parliamentary perks.

Mr OKeefe did not name the politicians but said at least 25 MPs from both sides of
politics were under scrutiny.

"There could be more, as we look further the ambit widens," Mr OKeefe told reporters.

He said inquiries into the rorts would not be held before the March state election and it
was possible some MPs had credible explanations for their actions.

"One has to listen to the explanations that may be proffered," he said.
